Day 303: Soul Treats

Because of the Legacy of Kain series, everyday is Halloween for me! I never thought i'd be so enticed to a video game series like this.

Through out my childhood i've seen fan art of the Legacy of Kain series. Later while picking up a game with my sister with our allowance (we were small) i seen the box cover of Defiance. Seeing the characters you'd think i'd be amazed; but instead i felt intimidated. I knew the series existed but was always afraid to try it. Plus I was hooked on other games like World of Warcraft during that time. Senior year of between 2009-2010 the Twilight hype was massive in my school. During that time i'm a bit spooked by vampires and wanted to check out out; see if it was good. Read the book, watched the movie, and honestly they were a joke. Afterwards I kept thinking 'there has to be more fierce vampires! Something awesome!'. the childhood memories started to kick in and thinking back on seeing those characters of the series. Did some searching and finally found the games. Soon I would check if the Legacy of Kain series was what I desired...

Started on Soul Reaver 2 since that was the only available game I could buy online as much I wanted to start on the first. I didn't know the series had 5 games at the time so I had to start somewhere. While playing I have never felt amazed in the game during that time. the voice acting, the character designs, the lore, I just loved it all! After beating Soul Reaver 2 I HAD TO GET THE NEXT GAME AND CONTINUE. Luckily I bought a copy of Defiance and started right off the bat. Later I started researching more into the game and overtime got the other 3 games and LOVED them. During the end of Defiance when I learnt that there was no continuation of the series... my heart just shattered. What happens now? How can Nosgoth heal? What's Kain going to do???? My soul felt pain.

You'd think in a few years you'd forget about a game series and be less attached; not this one. AT LEAST everyday i think about the characters and how the story can be complete. The ending of Nosgoth being restored and all. I was still an inexperienced artist and figured i'd draw some art...Hell no I thought. My skills weren't good enough for even myself; i'd be embarrassed if i draw these characters wrong. It was a real struggle. A month before 2015 I started to get series with my artwork and just maybe I would feel more comfortable drawing Kain, Raziel, and the others; maybe even fan-concept art of different armors and design! 

Now that I'm close to the end of this year, my skills has honed and I feel a lot comfortable drawing these beloved vampires. I still have trouble with humanoid figures but i'll get better in time. During that time i started to develop a desire to just....complete the story??? I want to be the artist to could reboot or bring the series back to daylight (moonlight in this case). I don't know if it could but I like to believe it can with the right people and resources. If not a redo of the previous games then at least something to expand the lore/story. Something that could involve Kain and his lieutenants trying to conquer Nosgoth when they're still fledglings and start to grow. Or even something to do with the Ancient Vampires and the Hyldan! I'm sure im not the only person with this desire and they would understand this is a very aching feeling. One day it can happen. We'll just have to see.
